Calgarian cellist Andrea Case is co-founder of the Lily String Quartet, a group that has completed multiple tours across Canada, performed for CBC Radio and collaborated extensively with groups around Western Canada. Andrea performs regularly with Lily, The Kensington Sinfonia and String Theory Music Collective, while maintaining an active teaching studio. She is sought after as a teacher, chamber coach, adjudicator and studio musician.

Assistant Principal Bass of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra 1977-2017, Sheila Garrett received her early musical training as a scholarship student at the Interlochen Arts Academy (Diploma). A graduate of the University of Michigan (Bachelor of Music Performance with Distinction), Sheila was awarded the Blatt Seigel Double Bass Prize to "a student showing outstanding potential as an orchestral player". She continued her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England, earning a Certificate of Advanced Studies. An active freelance musician, Sheila Garrett now regularly appears with the Calgary Philharmonic and Red Deer Symphony Orchestras. She has recently been engaged by Calgary Bach Society, Calgary Festival Chorus, Calgary Opera, Kantorei Chorus and National Geographic Symphony for Our World, and others. Recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award, Sheila Garrett is a dedicated instructor and sought after clinician.

A native of Tacoma, Washington, double bassist Matthew Heller joined the Calgary Philharmonic in 2007. He has appeared frequently as a recitalist and chamber musician, including performances with the Mountain View Chamber Music Festival, Land’s End Chamber Ensemble, Kensington Sinfonia, and Instrumental Society of Calgary. He was awarded the Instrumental Society's inaugural Janice Waite Scholarship in recognition of his contributions to Calgary's performing arts community.

Dutch born flutist Lucie Jones (Batteké) is principal flute with the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, and also performs with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. She is an active chamber musician, soloist, teacher and adjudicator. Lucie has appeared as a featured performer with Rosa Barocca, the Instrumental Society of Calgary, the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, Land’s End Ensemble, Calgary's Kensington Sinfonia, and Mountain View Festival.  As a member of The Looking Glass DuoStorymusicand Perfect Cadence Woodwind Quintet, Lucie tours throughout Alberta. 

A member of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 1974, Joan Kent was a founding member of the Calgary Bach Society and its principal cellist for 20 years. Her special interest in early-music performance practice, and in playing and teaching baroque cello and viola da gamba, led to studies at the Vancouver Early Music Festival, workshops with Tafelmusik, and more recently to studies in Provence, France.

Cellist Janet Kuschak has been a tenured member of the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra and was a founding member of Toronto’s Esprit Orchestra. Ms. Kuschak performs on baroque cello with various early music groups such as Spiritus Chamber Choir, Early Music Voices, Rosa Barocca and Early Music Alberta. She is principal cellist of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Kuschak is sought-after as an adjudicator and clinician, having been invited to adjudicate at the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival on three occasions and nationally with her last post in Ottawa. 

Born in Claresholm Alberta, Diane Lane holds a Master’s degree in violin performance from the University of Calgary. She is a founding member of Calgary’s Lily String Quartet. The quartet has performed across Canada, and has released several cross-genre CD’s.  Diane is a highly sought-after orchestral and chamber performer. She is currently the Assistant Concertmaster of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, a member of Kensington Sinfonia and a member of Rosa Barocca.  Diane has adjudicated at festivals throughout Alberta and British Columbia. Diane is on faculty with the Amici String Program and maintains a violin studio at Mount Royal Conservatory.

Justin Luchinski began an active career in early music performance in Montréal while completing his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University. Before moving back to his hometown of Calgary, AB in the summer of 2020, Justin was a regular rehearsal keyboardist with Opera McGill’s baroque opera productions for over half a decade, and had regular season concerts, performances at the Montréal Baroque Festival, recording projects, and nation-wide touring with Les Méandres, the ensemble of which he is a co-founder.

Ralph Maier has been engaging Canadian audiences for over thirty years with his sensitive interpretations and natural technical facility. His concert programs cover a broad range of periods from Renaissance to Contemporary, and he is active as a soloist, chamber musician, and member of the Oberon Guitar Trio . He is currently on faculty at the Mount Royal University Conservatory of Music where he conducts private lessons and ensemble classes, and at the University of Calgary where he heads the classical guitar studio and teaches classes in music history and popular music studies. Ralph completed his PhD at the University of Calgary, specializing in sixteenth-century Spanish music for vihuela.

Violinist Andrea Neumann’s performances have been described as “a perfect study in poetic embodiment” and having “a commanding, flawless execution” (Calgary Herald, 2014). In 1999, Andrea had the pleasure of playing a recital on the legendary Heifetz Guarneri del Gesù violin at the Palace of the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. Over the past two decades, she has enjoyed teaching and performing throughout Canada. She plays on a modern violin by Bence Holló, made in 2002, and a Baroque violin by Warren Ellison of Jericho Center, Vermont, made in 1999. 

Dean O’Brien earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and Bachelor and Masters of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music. Dean is the violist of the UCalgary String Quartet and has performed with many leading chamber musicians including Anton Kuerti, Andrew Dawes, David Harding, Kai Gleusteen, Ian Swensen and Giles Apap.  Dean currently teaches at Mount Royal Conservatory and the University of Calgary and is Principal Viola of the Red Deer Symphony, a member of the Kensington Sinfonia and Artistic Director of the Calgary Pro Musica Society. 

Robert Penner was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, began playing the violin at the age of nine, and in orchestras a year later. His professional career includes three years as Assistant Concertmaster of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and 32 years a member of the first violin section of the Calgary Philharmonic. Robert is also a baroque music specialist, having studied with Jean Lamon, Stanley Ritchie, and Mark Destrubé. He played baroque violin in the Castalia Quartet, and has performed with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra and internationally acclaimed Tafelmusik.

Jane Perry is in her ninth season as Artistic Director of Calgary Renaissance Singers & Players, Founding Artistic Director of One Voice Chorus, and Music Director at Calgary Unitarians.  A classically-trained pianist, Jane has spent the last decade marvelling at the similarities between harpsichord improvisation and jazz-piano solos, and doing a lot of both.

Canadian violist Ronelle Schaufele is an active solo, chamber, and orchestral musician who performs frequently throughout Western Canada as well as performances in Cuba, Brazil, United States, New Zealand, and Europe. She is a member of the newly formed Rosa Barocca and is assistant principal violist in the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. An active instructor, Ronelle is currently on faculty at the Amici String Program. Ronelle was recently the Artistic Advisor for the Szekely/Rolston Young Musicians Program in cooperation with the Banff International String Quartet Competition. In the Fall of 2012 Ms. Schaufele founded the Banff String Academy of Music which offers gifted young students in the Banff area advanced musical training. 

Mezzo-Soprano, Sara Staples is an active performer across North America specializing in opera, concert work and in professional ensembles. Sara has been featured as a soloist with The Richard Eaton Singers, The Bow Valley Chorus, The Wild West New Music Ensemble, The Calgary Bach Society, Symphony of the Vines, Luminous Voices, Spiritus Chamber Choir, The South Dakota Chorale, Voicescapes and La VIe. She has appeared as a soloist and in recital at Festivals worldwide. Ms. Staples holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music in Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California. Also a voice teacher in Calgary, Sara is passionate about arts education and the next generation of performing artists.

Ms. Stuppard is sought after as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. She is currently Principal Second Violin of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra. She has been involved in early music projects with Towson University, Red Deer Symphony, Early Music Voices, Spiritus Choir and Early Music Alberta.  She is a member of Rosa Barocca and is a founding director of Calgary’s newest historical performance ensemble, String Theory Music Collective. Louise maintains a busy private teaching studio.  She was the Music Director for the Red Deer Community and Youth Orchestras and was honoured with the 2018 Red Deer Women of Excellence Awards in Arts, Culture and Heritage.

Canadian Flautist Mary Sullivan is a sought after performer, pedagogue, and Yoga and Meditation instructor. She performs with the Calgary Philharmonic, Calgary Opera, Theatre Calgary, and Land’s End Ensemble. Mary maintains a flute studio and coaches chamber music at Mount Royal Conservatory and Valhalla Summer School of Music. With Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Flute performance, she received her education at Indiana University, Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England, and Louisiana State University. Mary’s unique blend of mindfulness and music inspires her performance, collaborations, and mentorship.
